Paris Memorial Complex

This design project is situated within a memorial themed zone on Kish Island. The architects have chosen to utilize elements and features common to Gothic architectural style in developing the design. Pointed arches, ribbed vaults, flying buttresses and decorative patterns inspired by medieval Gothic cathedrals from Europe have been incorporated into the building's structure and ornamentation to produce an evocative and nostalgic atmosphere associated with Gothic architecture. The use of locally sourced limestone masonry and stained glass windows also help contextualize the Gothic motifs within the environment of Kish Island, creating a place of contemplation and remembrance for visitors through an aesthetic firmly rooted in the cues and conventions of Gothic architecture.
